McDaniel Annual Tennis Tournament by PBO

For the second consecutive year, PBO was in charge of managing and operating the Annual McDaniel Tennis Tournament, celebrating its 19th edition this year for the benefit of the Ball Boys and players. 🎾

During this tournament, we enjoyed exciting tennis matches and activities thanks to the constant support of Casa de Campo.

The tournament started on Thursday, March 7th, at the Racquet Center in Casa de Campo, followed by the Quarter Finals the next day. On Saturday, March 9th, we moved to the Semi Finals at the La Romana Country Club in Casa de Campo, followed by the Finals and the Awards Ceremony the next day, successfully concluding this tournament.

How did this Tournament come into the hands of PBO?

It all started 42 years ago when Richard McDaniel moved to the country and during a golf tournament for the benefit of the caddies, he wondered why there wasn't something similar for the Ball Boys. Following the suggestion of his friend, Marty Chattman, he decided to create this charity tournament, initially teaching the ball boys to speak English, then expanding to provide scholarships when they started receiving donations, and finally, providing medical insurance as they could get injured while playing.

Mr. McDaniel, being a constant donor to #PBOorg, has blindly trusted the transparent work for the benefit of Hogar del Niño, and sees no better candidates to continue this legacy, which is why we started our work in this tournament since 2023.
