XVI Hogar del Niño Graduation

On June 25, the sixteenth Graduation of the Hogar del Niño School and the first graduation of the Hogar del Niño Polytechnic, took place, where 63 new Bachelor's Degrees successfully graduated and 6 PBO Scholarships were awarded to outstanding students.

Graduates, parents, staff, members of the Council of Directors of the Patronato Benéfico Oriental, Inc. (PBO) and guests gathered on the multipurpose field of the Hogar del Niño facilities, where they enjoyed an activity full of emotions and satisfaction for having achieved a fundamental stage in the lives of these students.

The director of the Hogar del Niño School, Mercedes Lorenzo, gave the welcoming words; The President of the Patronato Benéfico Oriental, Inc., Xiomara Menéndez Dájer, addressed the graduates, while the Director of the Patronato Benéfico Oriental, Inc., Sandra Alvarado, presented the recognition for Academic Excellence. The motivational speech to the graduating students was given by Mr. Claudio Doñé, a specialist in social economy, microfinance and organizational development, who has dedicated his professional practice for more than 30 years to the management of entities specialized in social inclusion, education, development economic and access to technology.

In 2009, the first Graduation of the Hogar del Niño school was held and consequently the “PBO Scholarships” program was implemented, which offers an opportunity to transform lives and build a path towards a more promising future. Through this program, 161 scholarships have been awarded to students who graduated from the Hogar del Niño school, of which 56 are currently studying at different universities in the country, while 80 of them are successful professionals, currently pursuing their respective careers with excellent performance, but above all with great commitment and responsibility.

As usual, the most anticipated moment of the Graduation was the delivery of the PBO Scholarships, where Mrs. Xiomara Menéndez Dájer, President of the PBO, awarded the Scholarship for academic excellence to the student Juliana Esther Contreras Gómez, while the other Scholarships were delivered by Sarah Pelegrin, Public Relations Director of Casa de Campo Resort & Villas; Raquel Ginebra Martínez-Lima and Juan José Arteaga, Members of the PBO Board of Directors, and María Elena Corripio, representative of the Asociación Popular de Ahorros y Préstamos (APAP), who awarded the Leader Scholarship.
